The VIP Cash Grant significantly increases in 2024, particularly for R&D projects.
Medium-sized and large enterprises employing at least 100 employees (including parent companies) can apply for cash support for their own experimental development or applied research based on individual government decisions.
According to government plans, from January 1, 2024, the maximum amount of support for R&D projects will increase from 15 million euros to 25 million euros. Additionally, up to 50% aid may be available for certain projects in Hungary instead of 25% granted in the past.
The planned growth affects not only the maximum amount of the aid but also expands the range of eligible costs. Thus, costs related to contractual research with higher education institutions may be eligible for reimbursement up to 50% of the total project cost.
The VIP Cash Grant for R&D can be combined with the planned R&D tax incentive, as detailed previously. It is important to note that the provision of support is conditional upon the confirmation of R&D content by the NKFIH.
