VIP Cash Grant for R&D Activities Based on Individual Government Decisions
The unique government decision-based R&D support program aims to assist large enterprises and SMEs with at least 50 employees in their research and development activities, as well as to encourage the establishment of R&D competence centers in Hungary.

Eligible Activities
The program allows for the funding of one or more R&D projects under a single grant application, provided that the project is classified as applied research or experimental development by the National Research, Development, and Innovation Office (NKFIH).
Form and Extent of Subsidy
The amount of VIP Cash Grant funding for R&D depends on the project type and location:
For applied research: The support covers 50% of eligible costs.
Experimental development
- 25% of eligible costs in Budapest.
- 40% of eligible costs in other regions of Hungary.
Commitments
The projects must have at least €1 million in eligible costs, to be incurred within 1 to 3 years.
The company must increase its R&D workforce by at least 10 employees.
Eligible Costs:
The VIP Cash Grant can cover the following expenses:
Personnel-related expenses: Salaries of researchers and developers working on the supported R&D project.
Depreciation costs: Amortization of buildings, equipment, and tools used for the duration of the supported R&D project.
Material costs: Up to 25% of total eligible costs.
Contracted research costs: Up to 25% of total eligible costs, or 50% if collaborating with a higher education institution.
MAINTENANCE PERIOD
To receive VIP Cash Grant, the company must maintain the R&D activities and the newly created jobs for at least 2 years.
Project duration
The maximum project duration is 36 months.
