Training Subsidy for Companies – Eligible Costs and eligible Training Types

Continuous development and maintaining competitiveness are increasingly important for companies, making employee training a priority. Training subsidy programs provide companies with a cost-effective way to develop their teams while reducing the financial burden on their operations.

This article outlines the eligible costs and types of training that can be supported through funding.

Eligible Costs

Training subsidy can cover various expenses, including the costs associated with the courses and compensating for the employees’ lost work hours during training.

Trainer Fees

The costs of training services provided by external experts or training institutions can be covered. These include:

  • Course and training fees from external trainers
  • Exam fees and the costs for obtaining certifications
  • Customized corporate training and professional development programs

Employee Salaries

Since employees do not perform production or operational work during training, support is available to compensate for the lost work time. This means companies can account for the following costs for employees attending training:

  • Gross wages during the training period
  • Social security contributions (e.g., healthcare contributions)

This is especially beneficial for companies where employees participate in full-time training or where the courses require significant hours.

Eligible Training Types

Training subsidy can be applied to a wide range of training types that help improve the company’s innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness, and can be implemented in either external or internal training formats.

Professional and Technical Training

Training related to the specific field or necessary to introduce new technologies. Examples include:

  • Mechanical, electrical, or logistics training
  • Occupational health and safety and security training
  • Quality assurance systems training

Digital and IT Skills Development

In the era of digital transformation, developing employees’ digital skills is crucial. Examples include:

  • Programming and data management
  • ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and business management systems training
  • Cybersecurity training

Management and Soft Skills Training

Developing leadership skills and effective work practices also contributes to the success of the company. Examples include:

  • Project management and agile methodologies
  • Negotiation techniques and conflict resolution
  • Communication and presentation skills development

Language Training

For companies operating in international markets or working with foreign partners, language skills development is essential. Examples include:

  • Business English and professional language training
  • German, French, or other foreign language courses
  • Written and verbal communication skills development

Example of Eligible Costs Calculation

A company offers five different training sessions for its employees, with durations of 2, 2, 4, 5, and 5 days. Both the fees paid to trainers and the compensation for employees’ lost working time can be covered by the support.

Trainer Fees

Let’s assume the following costs for the training sessions:

  • 2-day project management training: 250,000 Ft per session
  • 4-day specialized logistics training: 450,000 Ft
  • 5-day business English training: 550,000 Ft per session

Total training fees: (2 × 250,000) + 450,000 + (2 × 550,000) = 2,050,000 Ft

Employee Salaries

Let’s assume the average gross daily wage per employee is 30,000 Ft.

If 5 employees attend each training session, the salary costs for each training would be:

  • 2-day training: 5 × 30,000 × 2 = 300,000 Ft
  • 4-day training: 5 × 30,000 × 4 = 600,000 Ft
  • 5-day training: 5 × 30,000 × 5 = 750,000 Ft

Total salary costs: (2 × 300,000) + 600,000 + (2 × 750,000) = 2,700,000 Ft

Total Eligible Costs in this Example

  • Trainer fees: 2,050,000 Ft
  • Salary costs: 2,700,000 Ft
  • Total: 4,750,000 Ft

This subsidy for training allows companies to develop their employees’ skills at minimal cost, while at the same time increasing company efficiency and creating long-term competitive advantages.
